Georgetown Fire and Police conquer tough mudder event

by Chief Fite on February 1, 2011

Chief Nero navigates over the water

On Saturday, January 29, 11 members of the Georgetown Fire and Police Departments participated in one of the Nation’s toughest outdoor events known as the Tough Mudder. This event was a ten mile run through military style obstacles that tested the participant’s use of teamwork, camaraderie, problem solving, physical endurance and mental toughness. All 11 members finished the course in roughly 2 hours. This outdoor challenge is just one strategy to improve the overall conditioning and fitness of both departments using a real life stressed environment. Fire Chief Robert Fite stated, “I am very proud to be associated with members of a department who are willing to sacrifice a little energy and pain in an effort to build a strong and fit team”.

Team members included Wayne Nero, Eric Grasse, Robert Fite, Carl Boatright, Brandon Simmons, Nicholas Twomey, Roland Azua, Matthew Morrow, Sean Arndt, Price Inman, and Jeff Fishel. Additional pictures and details can be found at toughmudder.com.
